Finally decided to do a comprehensive in-depth review about Move.ai system directly compared against Xsens. In this piece, I explored a slower paced story with more emotional delivery. MetaHuman creator was used for hero character, which allowed the detailed facial animation. UE5 lumen gave the scene much richer and realistic lighting, through realtime GI and emissive material. The art style was heavily inspired by the Cyberpunk genre as well as the music composing.
This is the first production for our Shape Shifters Creative team (http://shapeshifterscreative.com). Shapeshifters Creative is the team of artists behind all my other short films and we finally decided to take it to the next level and expand our production. @David Jiang (artstation.com/davidjiang) is our character lead did an awesome job integrating the metahuman into customized face mesh for the robot. We have much more content coming so stay tuned.

New addition "Hello World!" into my Unreal mini-series collection. Every piece is a building block for a bigger storyline I'm building up to. There are a lot more to come, so stay tuned.
On the production side, I tried to push Metahuman animation in Unreal this time. All facial animation was fully animated either iphone or Keyframe in Unreal, depending on the shots. One step closer to all in Unreal workflow. Character face was from Metahuman. My friend @David Jiang (artstation.com/davidjiang) very talented character TD helped me to set up the body + face integration.
Overall this piece took about less than 2 weeks to put together, from concept to finish. It's really impressive how Unreal allows us to work at such a fast speed, unlock the possibility to make the photorealistic films by a very small team. Can't wait to share more.

The film was published in early 2020 and was in production for about 10 months. Looking back now, realized there are a lot of things I could have done better. I used hybrid Vray + Unreal render in Pantheon back in 2019. I'm pretty confident everything can be done in UE right now. Still very interesting to see the progress.
As always, xsens was used for motion capture, 80% shots were rendered in UE, couple close ups were taken offline. Let me know if you want to see more.

During the age of the Black Magic, stories were told that a space crystal is the key to unlock a portal between two worlds. Whoever acquires the key can unlock the portal at a lost temple called The Pantheon. The story begins with the battle between the Archer and the Orc.
This film has been in production for almost a year. After releasing the last short The Lander, feedback from the creative community was overwhelmingly positive. With the experience of producing The Lander, Pantheon is a new exploration in different genres and overall upgrade to the workflow and visual fidelity. Being able to utilize motion capture really brought the characters to life and allowed the design of complex action fighting sequences. Music and sound design also helped to immerse the audience into the film’s magic world.
