This is Houjuu Chimi's theme
name "There is an Obake in the Woods"
from Touhou 20 "Fossilized Wonders" by Team Shanghai Alice.
"Obake" doesn't really have 100% correct English word equivalent.
It's not "Apparition".
Calling her "Monster" is as broad as calling her Youkai. (Actually it's even broader.)
Calling her "Ghost" would lump her together with those real ghosts like Yuyuko.
That's why I took it upon myself to just, not translate it. Keep it as is.
The original Japanese sentence does not have quantity indicator.
It doesn't tell how many Obakes are in the woods.
The folks in touhou wiki wanted to go with singular. That's fine by me.
Nobody (other than ZUN) knows if this sentence is said by herself or others, so no one can really vouch for the quantity.
ZUN didn't even bother to expand whether she's Nue's sister or not.
Maybe even mother or grandmother. Chimi said that she's something older than the concept of Youkai itself, so..
The little texts next to her portrait is the equivalent of "Kids these days...".
