The FutureOS application 'SmaScrSaver' allows you to use a small screen saver, which just switches the monitor to black after a while. something like 1200 can be a good number:
You can enter a waiting value to set the time to wait until the screen goes black.
After pressing a key the screen will switch back to regular. If you press ESC then the screen saver will be terminated.
