I had just gotten my new Clavia Nord Stage 2 88 and i wanted to do a little video with it.
It's really an almighty keyboard.
it's the first time I build some loop and use it for one of my videos.
I used the individual sounds from Spectrasonics' Stylus.
most of this arrangement is improvised, except for the very first intro/part.
The third and last part, the slow one, is a little theme i wrote last week, and the first time i just play it, and the second time i improvise on it in one take for each horn.
the ending chords were just improvised with the Fender Rhodes from the Nord, which i don't really show, because it seems there is so much stuff anyway to show... :)
For the geeks:
almost the entire recording is done with one Shure KSM32, one UA 610 solo mic pre and a Mohog Mofet 176 (1176 style) compressor.
All the keyboards and pad sounds are from the Nord and effected only with its on board effects, including reverb and delay.
The bass is recorded direct into the same chain as everything else.
The saxes are Yani 991's (with SAXZ rubber mouthpieces), the trumpet is a 1948 LA OLDS ambassador, with a Bach Mt Vernon C7 mouthpiece.
The drumset is a 60's Ludwig 22/14/16.
Cymbals are all 50's or 60's A Zildjians.
Filmed with a Canon 5d mark II and a canon lens 50mm F/ 1.2 L.
mixed in protools 9, and film edited in final cut pro 5.
I'd like this to be my last video for a while, as i'd like to focus on putting together a live show. A one man band multi media show.
