Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is a 3D printing process that uses a thermoplastic filament material that is melted and extruded through a nozzle to build layers and create a 3D object. The key process parameters are nozzle temperature, build platform temperature, layer height, print speed and extrusion rate. FDM offers advantages like low cost and material variety but also has limitations in resolution and part properties.
