We are delighted to share the fantastic news that our world-renowned Brain Tumour Research Centre of Excellence has been awarded £2.8 million to drive its future work.
The funding builds on a partnership with Brain Tumour Research that spans more than a decade, and will enable our researchers – from experienced theme leads to early career researchers and current students – to deepen their understanding of how low grade tumours develop and translate that knowledge into life-changing therapies.
The Director of the BTRC – Professor David Parkinson – spoke about what the funding means, for our researchers and for the patients and clinicians who stand to benefit from their work.
We were also excited to welcome actor and producer Craig Russell for a tour of the centre and he told us what its work means to him. Craig underwent surgery at Derriford Hospital for a low-grade meningioma in February 2023, and is now an Ambassador for Brain Tumour Research.
