In this video, we’re breaking down how fundamentalist Christian culture talks about accountability and why it almost always ends with women taking the blame for men’s choices.
We use a recent fundie scandal as a jumping-off point to unpack the language: “pray for your husband,” “men are visual,” “Satan made him do it,” etc. On the surface, it looks like accountability. In reality, it shifts responsibility onto women, even in this tragic situation involving cheating, coercion, and pregnancy loss.
This doesn’t stay in church. These ideas are already going mainstream, often without the God-talk, and they’re being used to justify rolling back women’s rights like no-fault divorce, reproductive autonomy, and the right to work or live independently.
This video is about spotting the dog whistles, understanding how “traditional values” really function, and recognizing why women are always expected to carry the consequences while men get excuses.
