Who said the terminal has to be all work and no play?
In this quick and fun video, we show you how to run a steam locomotive right inside your Linux terminal using the sl command.
Originally created as a playful typo-correction for ls, sl has since become a beloved Easter egg for Linux users.
But the simple sl command has multiple options to not just run the train but fly it, convert it into super fast TGV trains and even add disco lights to it.
You'll see all of it in action in this video which will let you have some fun in the Linux command line.
⚙️ Command Options:
sl # Runs the default steam locomotive animation
sl -a # Adds little accident animations to the train
sl -l # Displays a smaller train (little version)
sl -6 # Will add 6 coaches
sl -F # Fly the train
sl -w # Make the train run faster
sl -G # Runs the high speed French TGV train
sl -e # Allows to interrupt with Ctrl+C
