My name is Paul Roustan. I'm a body painter. I paint on people and then I photograph them. My videos contain documentary footage of artistic nudity with body paint. Flashback to 80s NYC! Beats and colors pulsed from a curious art gallery showcasing yet to be big artists like Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Kenny Scharf.
Legendary graffiti writers Fab Five Freddy, Dondi, Lee Quinones, and Futura 2000 left their marks at this hangout space for graffiti, hip hop, break dancers, and artists of all sorts. The heart of the East Village pumped with exploration, integrity, and just straight up fun! It was pure and the world wanted a piece of it.
The FUN gallery was run by icon Patti Astor. I’ve had the privilege of hanging with her these past few weeks while she took over the town. I read her book, watched her films, and listened to so many amazing stories about hobnobbing with the likes of Blondie, Julian Schnabel, Grace Jones, Madonna, the FUN crew, among many others.
