If you’re responsible for planning or implementing OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery, understanding the difference between moving and non-moving compute instances (virtual machines) is a fundamental starting point.

Nearly every application recovery architecture can be understood through this model. Whether your organization describes its strategy as pilot light, cold standby, warm standby, hot standby, or active-passive, the underlying design decision is largely the same: how will the compute instances hosting your application be provisioned, maintained, and recovered at the recovery site?
