Creating a quiet galvanically isolated power rail for the transceiver …
↓↓↓ Complete description, time index and links below ↓↓↓
In the last video we finished the redesign of the ADC’s analog frontend (link below). But in order to get the noise down we had to sacrifice our CA-IS3098W isolated RS-485 transceiver (link below). Now let’s find a low noise replacement for it.
We start with a last ditch effort to tame the noise produced by the CA-IS3098W – which fails. Then we have a look at an alternative architecture. We come so far as to create a low noise isolated 5V rail using an isolated DC-DC converter.
00:00 Intro – salvage the CA-IS3098W or find an alternative
01:00 Recap – why I decided to abandon the CA-IS3098W
04:41 Last ditch effort – but the CA-IS3098W lost the war
07:34 Alternative – a separate isolated DC/DC converter
10:35 Tests – with the RECOM RFB-0505S DC/DC converter
17:32 Results – noise levels lower than before, eerily low
19:29 Wrap-up – next is analyzing the motor back EMF, bye
