Grate was arrested Sept. 13, 2016, after a woman, Laurie, was found and rescued after calling 911, claiming she had been abducted.

While police searched the vacant house in Ashland, Ohio, they discovered the bodies of Stacey Stanley and Elizabeth Griffith, who both disappeared in 2016.
Grate has also been linked to the deaths of Candice Cunningham, Rebekah Leicy and an unidentifed woman found in Marion County, but has not yet been charged in their deaths.
Grate confessed to the murder of 5 woman, but then later claimed his lawyer insisted he plead not guilty. During his trial he changed his plea again.
