Classic cars and summer heat can be a bad combination — and if your engine is running hot, your radiator is already working overtime. Here's how we tackled it on Paige's 1964 Chevelle: an engine oil cooler install that takes real load off the cooling system and helps keep coolant temperatures in check when the heat is on.
The idea is simple but effective — the more heat you can pull out of the oil before it cycles back through the engine, the less work the radiator has to do. That means cooler coolant temps, a more efficient cooling system overall, and a real buffer against overheating when you're cruising in hot weather or sitting in traffic. On a classic car with a cooling system that wasn't exactly engineered for modern summer heat, every bit counts.
