thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich | Frugal Friday Quick Tip! Make Your Scoring Tool Last Longer! @thefrugalcrafter | Uploaded March 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
In this video, I will show you how to make crisper folds in your cardstock and keep your scoring tool in better working order. I love my Scor-Pal scoring board, the owner of the company is wonderful and I highly recommend their products. This tip will work for any plastic bone folder but I find the the bone folders in the score pal and other scoring boards (like the We R memory keepers envelope and bag makers for instance) are similar and may go dull or be too blunt for scoring heavyweight cardstock.
Full Size 1/8" increments Scor-Pal: (sold out on Amazon but Spellbinders has it) shrsl.com/4gre6
Metric version: amzn.to/3VuRgoV
Scor-Buddy: amzn.to/43vhVnF
*EK Success has a similar board in full size and mini: amzn.to/3Ts5YdN
(affiliate links used)
Directions:
Drag the tip of the scoring tool over sandpaper at an angle until you have restored sharpness to the bone folder end. Test on cardstock and repeat until you have the desired sharpness. You may use a finer git sandpaper to polish the end if it seems too sharp or scratchy.
