They will be seeing something equally remarkable. Temperatures at the falls on Monday reached 13 degrees below zero. When the weather is this cold at the falls, the tremendous amount of mist generated by the powerful waterfall turns everything around it into ice, building in ever-thickening layers. Pictures of the frozen Niagara Falls circulating around the Web show how immense the ice is around the falls. Despite the cold temperatures, plenty of tourists still visit the falls to see the ice. The falls received more visitors during a week in early March than the average winter week as people heard about the falls' frozen appearance, which was good for tourism and local businesses.
