On January 12, members of the Stop Formosa Plastics Coalition, International Monitor Formosa Plastics Alliance, San Antonio Bay Estuarine Waterkeeper, and Rise St. James will hold a rally in front of the White House to expose how Formosa Plastics is responsible for severely violating environmental justice, health, and human rights issues at home in Texas and Louisiana—and abroad in Vietnam. After the rally, a petition will be hand-delivered to the White House, calling on President Biden to direct the Army Corps of Engineers to revoke the permits for a proposed Formosa Plastics facility in St. James, Louisiana. The estimated $12 billion facility would roughly double toxic air emissions in St. James Parish and disturb unmarked burial sites for formerly enslaved people, degrade wetlands, and deepen the plastic pollution crisis.
