The force of an elbow jab is powerful enough to fend off an attacker and allow you time to run to safety. OSUPD’s Officer Cassi Shaffer, one of Ohio State’s Empowerment and Self-Defense instructors, teaches a self-defense technique called “Front Elbow” in this week’s Safety Spotlight. Watch the video to learn how to use your elbow as an additional line of defense during an attack.
The techniques shown in this video are taught by certified instructors and should be used for self-defense only. Self-defense techniques cannot be successfully employed in every situation, and proficiency can only be achieved and is dependent upon the thorough continued practice, exercising good judgment, and a person’s natural abilities. The Ohio State University and its police division are not liable for injury that may be incurred as a result of using these strategies.
