Before UAVs became the ecosystem they are today, engineering teams had to explore, test and question different ways of making them work.

This film takes a look back at one such chapter from ideaForge’s R&D journey: an early Tail-Sitter Hybrid VTOL experiment.

The archival footage captures an important part of that process - not just the aircraft in flight, but the kind of hands-on experimentation that helps engineers understand an architecture, its trade-offs, and where it fits within the requirements they are solving for.

The learnings from these early explorations became part of a much longer journey in VTOL development, eventually contributing to the thinking behind SWITCH – All Terrain Dominator.

This is the story of an experiment, the questions it raised, and the engineering decisions that followed.
