That’s the moment when every single track in the session fires at once. I wrestled with this section for hours… and instead of cutting things out, I added one more track.

In this video, I’m breaking down the full process of creating a heavy-hitting synthwave track for the game Ultra Mega Cats — from the first bass idea, through chaotic sound design, all the way to the final structure and mix.
I’ve been working with Fallen Leaf Studio on Ultra Mega Cats for a while now — starting with sound effects, then trailer music, and now the full OST. Ultra Mega Cats is a fast-paced, co-op roguelike third-person shooter set in a futuristic world, so the music had to be driving, aggressive, weird, and full of energy.
Everything was built in Logic Pro X, with a clean, color-coded workflow to keep the chaos under control (before it controls me).
🎮 What’s inside this breakdown:
Heavy synthwave bass built with Massive X
Drums & groove design using Battery 4, Splice elements, and creative pattern changes
Cyberized synth chaos with Polyverse Manipulator & I Wish
Chords, arps, glitches, and broken rhythms
A meow sample turned into a synth instrument (yes, really)
Distorted guitars mangled until they finally fit the track
Bus routing, mixing decisions, and Ozone 10 on the master
How to structure combat music so it loops without feeling like a loop
This is Clawcore Protocol, the fourth track from the Ultra Mega Cats soundtrack. You can already hear the previous tracks on my channel, and more are coming as the OST progresses.
