The spirit of giving has always been a driving force for Christine Bruce and her family. As the Senior Director of the Laboratory Medicine Program at University Health Network, she’s never lost sight of how a good caregiver can transform a patient’s life, especially those on dialysis or awaiting an organ transplant. But it wasn’t until she received an awareness email marking UHN’s Living Organ Donation Week that she realized could be the very person to turn that around—if even for just one patient.
Now, Christine is proud to say she made the right choice and wants others to know they can make that impact in someone else’s life, too.

For those in need of a kidney or liver transplant, living organ donation may offer a shorter pathway to better health – providing faster access to transplant and a quicker recovery. But there are not enough living donors to meet the need. The Centre for Living Organ Donation was created by the Ajmera Transplant Centre to improve access to living organ donation for people who need a life-saving kidney or liver transplant and those who want to give a transformative gift of life.
