The restoration of Jerusalem and Israel is ultimately a story of God's unwavering plan of salvation for all humanity.
In today's homily, Fr. Jim McCormack, MIC, reflected on how Israel—the twelve tribes—became divided, and how exile and deportation caused many to lose not only their homeland but even their tribal identity. Yet God's promise was never lost.
Jesus fulfilled that promise by opening the door of salvation far beyond the people of Israel. His mercy is not reserved for one nation or one people—it is offered to every person, to every heart willing to receive it. Through His Resurrection, the gift first witnessed by a few has been extended to the entire world.
This is the mission of Christ and His Church: to bring the lost home, to call sinners back to the Father, and to proclaim the boundless mercy of God to all nations. We are all invited into this mission of faith, hope, and love.
Today, let us remember that the Lord's mission is our salvation. His mercy knows no boundaries, and His invitation remains open to everyone. May we respond with grateful hearts and become instruments of His mercy, helping others find their way home to the Lord.
