One of the practices that has really helped me level up as a developer is the practice of diagramming or mapping out tasks before I even write a single line of code.
Too often, especially if the task is relatively easy, we'll jump head-first into writing code before we really even take a survey of what we actually need to do. And this leads to over-engineering.
You know what I mean, you read the task, the solution flashes in your head, and the location of the codebase comes to mind, you jump in and start typing away. And essentially, you make it up as you go.
Stop doing that.
There is a better way.
