During the making of the 'After October' documentary, the Aish Studios team had the profound privilege of getting to know an extraordinary family and their incredible journey. Through our connection with them, we learned about a deeply meaningful project to honor the memory of Rabbi Avi Goldberg HY"D.
Rabbi Avi Goldberg fell in battle in Lebanon on October 26th, leaving behind his wife Rachel and eight children. But his legacy extends far beyond his ultimate sacrifice. Rabbi Goldberg spent his life on the front lines of achdut, building bridges across Israeli society, and was known as a special man—an adored rabbi at Himmelfarb High School, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
Rabbi Avi believed deeply in the power of conversation and the ability to find common ground between Israelis who disagreed with one another. His vision was that through genuine dialogue and mutual respect, our people could come together despite their differences.
Now, his family is building a shul, B'Orcha Community Center, in his memory—not just as a place of prayer, but as a living testament to his belief in unity and understanding. This will be a space where Rabbi Avi's legacy of bringing people together will continue to flourish.
After meeting with the Goldbergs, Aish CEO Rabbi Steven Burg was deeply moved and decided that Aish would be honored to help support this sacred project. We invite you to contribute to this meaningful initiative to honor Rabbi Avi Goldberg's memory. Together, we can ensure that his vision of achdus—unity among the Jewish people—lives on forever.
