Music executive Clive Davis, who helped launch the careers of such artists as Barry Manilow, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys, died on June 22, 2026 at age 94. Five years ago, when the New York City Mayor’s Office decided to put on a star-studded concert in Central Park to celebrate the Big Apple’s return after the COVID lockdown, Davis got the call. In this Aug. 15, 2021 “Sunday Morning” story, Kelefa Sanneh talked with Davis about programming “We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert.” Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon also spoke about their long friendships with Davis.
