We are making a BRAND NEW LEVEL from scratch using the new FrogLord 1.0.0! To view my previous level creation, see: youtu.be/-G5YJBRTXs4
In this tutorial, we will go over the Basics of creating a new level for Frogger: He's Back! using FrogLord and Blender.
First we clear and export the map as a blank .ffs file (for Frogger's sake 🙂), and then import into Blender. Scorching Switches is a good first map to create from scratch, since the mechanical theming makes jagged edges more believable. Less pressure on us for our first map.
Blender allows us to create the level geometry in any way we want, as long as we respect the collision gird (which we go over). Learn how to extrude new platforms, change materials and textures, add baked shading to our map, create new platforms from just a cube, and other important tips to keep your Frogger map happy and healthy.
FrogLord can then take the exported .ffs from Blender and turn it into a full-fledged map. In this part of the tutorial, we learn how to add entities, paths, collision grid additions, animations, and even good game design principles. Learn the hidden techniques of FrogLord to get the most out of your map.
And finally, enjoy the ride! I had a lot of fun making this cute little level, and I hope you enjoy the process as well!
Huge shout out to Kneesnap for creating FrogLord! None of this would be possible without him! And special thanks to the Highway Frogs community, thanks for the welcoming chatter and keeping this game alive!
