In May 2013, five members from the Earth Works Society, a non-profit organization based in Japan, came to Alaska to help clean up the debris from the 2011 Japanese Earthquake. Together with members of Gulf of Alaska Keeper, they picked 3,000 pounds of plastic from the Prince Williams Sound area.
