Does your knife make you look friendly? With the 4 rules I present here, you can evaluate your knife on friendliness. I just made these up. So it really might not be a very good scale. The friendliest knife may be the one that cuts you out of a problem, for example, no matter what it looks like. Does your knife look like it's made for helping or harming?
This is not a value judgment on knives that I might think look unfriendly. I actually like knives that I think might look unfriendly. It's just that I don't really like to use them in public. And I have a lot of appreciation for people who carry knives of all sorts. Knives are, first and foremost, a tool.
