Scenario 09 - Hildesheim East
SCHELLERTON, east of HILDESHEIM, WEST GERMANY:
The rapid advance of the 3rd Red Banner Army had led to the encirclement of the remnants of several formations, notably the British 1st Armour Division and the West German 1st Panzer Division. The NATO formations’ escape was cut off when the 7th Guards Tank Division captured the town of Hildesheim, sealing off NATO units east of Hildesheim.
While British forces were trying to break the encirclement to the West, a scratch force made up of the remnants of British and West German forces attempted to conduct a fighting withdrawal against fresh second-echelon troops of the 10th Guards Tank Division.
