Just over a year ago, we released the Berlin Free Orchestra, and the updated tiers of the Berlin Orchestra beyond that. At the pinnacle of those tiers, and of the Orchestral Tools catalogue, is Berlin Orchestra Max, the most comprehensive, integrated collection of sampled orchestral instruments available.
We then tasked @friedrichgattermann to compose the wildest, most detailed demo he could muster using Berlin Orchestra Max exclusively. We wanted something that would really showcase the realism, versatility, and dynamism an expert could generate from BO Max. The result is 'Hyper Hornet', a contemporary classical odyssey channeling Greenwood, Stravinsky, and Gershwin.
We loved the track, so we invited Friedrich up to OT HQ to sit with Hendrik Schwarzer (founder and CEO) and break down his piece. The result was a candid discussion between two composers on MIDI orchestration, motif writing, and shared influences.
