Intrigued by his inability to die, his regenerative powers & because capturing and detaining him has proved impossible & comes with mass casulties. A secret government agency decided to make camp crystal lake Jason's prison. Using every resource at their disposal the initiated an expedited almost impossible mission & constructed a tall solid steel barricade with beyond deadly electric fences and razor wire around the Crystal Lake Campgrounds & place observation towers around the outside perimeters.
2 years later the General in charge of the modified 2-4-5B Trioxin project sought revenge on the President for not negotiating and rescuing his son who had been taken hostage & later killed by a terrorist cell. His revenge came in the form of launching missiles at DC loaded with the modified Trioxin. Some missiles were shot down and dispersed in the upper atmosphere and spread across the continent and beyond seeding rainstorms, snowfall, Ice, Sleet etc. The new version of trioxin ranimated the dead but did not affect living humans unless it was inserted directly into their blood stream through a bite, scratch or injesting bodily fluds of a 2-4-5B Trioxin reanimated corpse or by someone who was infected by 1 and reanimated after death.
At crystal lake Jason is unaware of the world ending outside his home but while walking close to the lake the day of the trioxin attack a rain shower hits and Jason comes face to face with multiple reanimated corpses of pst victims the authorities never retrieved. And when he returns to his shack to check on his mother's head he experiences quite a surprise.
1 year into the Trioxin Zombie Apocalypse in the dead of winter a group of survivors are fleeing a horde of zombies and come upon the now unmanned, unpowered barricade around crystal lake. Not knowing the history and in dire need of shelter they devise a plan to enter the assumed sanctuary of camp crystal lake but soon discover they are in Jason's home and they are unwelcome guests and that they were safer facing the Apocalypse!
