Meteorologist Ashley Renee has your 8:15 am forecast. Good morning everyone and happy Friday! We've made it to the end of another work and school week. And it's Labor Day weekend. So many activities are happening between high school football games, LSU and Southern's home games this weekend, etc. However, we won't have completely dry weather to enjoy the festivities. As we've mentioned all week, the rain that we had between Monday and Wednesday were in association with Tropical Storm Edouard. Now, the rain that we had yesterday, will have today and this weekend is in association with an easterly tropical wave (weak area of low pressure in the Gulf). Isolated showers and thunderstorms could move into our area before the morning ends, however, the better chance for more of us to see rain will be later today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move across our area between this afternoon and tonight. The rain should end after dinner time. Skies will still be mostly cloudy after the rain ends, but then clouds will clear out a little bit overnight. Also, with more rain and clouds around, temperatures will be a couple of degrees lower today. On Tuesday, we only had a high of 89 degrees for that reason. But Wednesday was warmer and drier so our high temperature reached 95 degrees. Yesterday's high was 96 degrees. Today, the high should be near 90 degrees. Back to the rain. If you're attending the games tonight, make sure you have an umbrella and a poncho. Rain gear will still be needed for Labor Day weekend. The mornings will be mostly dry, but a few scattered showers and thunderstorms will move through our area in the afternoons and evenings. Southern and LSU both have home games this weekend to kick off their football seasons. If you're attending any events or going for a walk in the morning, then you should be okay without rain gear. However, make sure you have an umbrella, poncho and rain boots with you for the afternoon and evening. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move through Baton Rouge, southeast Louisiana in general and southwest Mississippi. Even with scattered activity around, some of you might have only one or two passing showers in your neighborhood. Still stay prepared by having rain gear with you. Our area is under a marginal risk for flash flooding today through Sunday. Rain chances continue on Labor Day through Wednesday. Thanks for watching. Have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!
