Students are exploring how friction works using a block launcher made of rubber bands. The hardest part is probably ensuring the same band stretch every time! Students launch the block the lab table, on sandpaper, and finally through this "gauntlet" of sticky notes. The sticky notes serve as a macroscopic model of what is happening when friction is present.
