Today, I want to introduce you to some common French vocabulary that you would never find in a traditional French textbook: verlan! Verlan is a type of French slang where the syllables of a normal word are inverted to make a completely new word.

Don’t panic, I promise it doesn’t have to be complicated. In today’s lesson, I’ll explain what verlan is, how it’s made, and introduce you to some of the most common words you might hear if you were to eavesdrop on a French conversation (or watch a French TV show).

Take care and stay safe.
😘 from Grenoble, France.
