Once America's hottest resort town is now one of Indiana's best-kept secrets
In this episode of Photowalks, we head to French Lick, Indiana—a small town with a name you'll never forget and a fascinating history you probably never knew. In the early 1900s, special trains brought wealthy visitors, celebrities, and politicians here to soak in the famous mineral springs, gamble, golf, and relax in two of America's grandest resorts.
We'll tour the stunning French Lick Resort and the spectacular West Baden Springs Hotel, once home to the world's largest free-standing dome. Along the way, we'll discover the surprising story behind the town's unusual name, visit the birthplace of tomato juice, look for traces of basketball legend Larry Bird, browse local shops, enjoy hometown cooking, and, naturally, finish with a famous French Lick ice cream cone.
