I needed a shelving system for the shop wall. I went with the French Cleat system so I could have adjustable shelf placement. I can add other shelves or cabinets to the wall.
I used 3/4 inch sheet of plywood cut into 5 inch wide strips along the shorter 4 foot end.
I then set my table saw to 45 degree and ripped the 5 inch strips in half with a 45 degree edge along one side. I put one board on the wall with a level and got it set first. Then I put another strip in the groove and used another board as a 3/4" spacer and built my wall of cleats up. I then can make a shelf and add a section of the angle cut board to the back so it will lock in place.
This makes a very configurable shelf system.
I first saw this type of shelving done on the YouTube channel Wranglerstar. I also found a lot of others that have videos out there on French Cleat shelves.
