Luhansk is the easternmost of the Ukrainian administrative centres, located closest to the border with Russia. Because of its unfortunate location, the city has faced many challenges as Russia was trying to russify it for centuries. However, among the residents of Luhansk, there are many who strongly resist the “Russian world”. There are people who organised Euromaidan actions in Luhansk, supported the Revolution of Dignity in Kyiv, joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian War, did a lot of volunteering, and on a daily basis persistently bring closer the day when the Ukrainian flag will fly again over their hometown.
Since 2014 Luhansk has been under Russian occupation. And yet we are confident that soon we will again savour sweet Luhansk apricots, and cheer for the Zoria football club from the seats of the Avanhard Stadium. After all, Luhansk is Ukraine.
We want to thank Freel, namely Andrii Shalimov, for the track "Luhansk", which we are releasing today as a part of the Brave Cities project.
"Luhansk" is the tenth and final video of the Brave Cities series this year, but from the beginning of 2023 we plan to present the videos about the cities of Crimea.
