When the Alta X is ripping across the sky at 75mph there is a phenomenon called 'Dissymmetry of lift'. ⠀
⠀
This refers to the idea that the blade that is advancing in the direction of flight is seeing a speed that is equal to the rotation speed + the forward velocity. The advancing blade creates more lift than the retreating blade.⠀
⠀
It is important for vibration and stability that lift across the rotor blade is balanced. Drones that do not use ActiveBlade will exhibit higher vibrations and lower stability. ⠀
⠀
Our ActiveBlade design compensates for this dissymmetry by reducing the angle of attack on the advancing blade, increasing it on the retreating blade, and balancing lift across the disk.⠀
⠀
This leads to the Alta X flying like a dream, the pilot smiling, the director complimenting, and the accountant being impressed with business growth.⠀
⠀
Ever wonder how this tiny, crazy company in Woodinville WA comes up with this stuff? ⠀
⠀
Hint - we do it because we are passionate about creating shots that were once impossible⠀
