What is Legalism?
Legalism is a set of rules, or regulations given to men that they must follow in order to merit salvation and spiritual growth.
In Legalism, Salvation is something that you must work for in order to receive. Christ made it possible to be saved but you must *********** fill in the blank, in order to merit salvation.
Legalism has historically set itself in opposition to the Gospel. Paul calls all religions or faiths that are contrary to the works of God, “Human Precepts and Teachings.” It is within Human Precepts and Teachings that Freedom cannot and will not be found.
This talk was given at the Called to Freedom Conference hosted by Berean Holiness and is aimed towards individuals who have come out of a legalistic and hyper-fundamentalist church/cult.
This speech aims to help people coming from hyper-fundamentalist churches to understand the Gospel, Salvation and the role of the Holy Spirit in the lives of all who believe in Christ.
