In 1867, Frederic Church traveled to see, firsthand, some of the world's most remarkable religious and historical sites. Inspired by the breathtaking architecture and natural scenery, Church sketched on-site, and returned home to paint some of his most celebrated works of art.

Follow his journey through the Middle East and Mediterranean in "Frederic Church: A Painter's Pilgrimage."

On view now at the Wadsworth Atheneum.
