Burgess Meredith served as the narrator for the initial award-winning Freakies commercial and his voice appeared in subsequent spots.
He is widely known for his roles in Rocky (as Mickey Goldmill) and as the Penguin in the Batman TV series.
The Freakies Characters: While the narration was handled by Meredith, the seven characters—BossMoss, Hamhose, Gargle, Cowmumble, Grumble, Goody-Goody, and Snorkeldorf—were reportedly inspired by or based on Ralston Purina employees.
The commercials were created at Zander's Animation Parlour, with notable animators including Bill Littlejohn and Preston Blair.
