I got my first KoRn CD, ‘Take a Look in the Mirror’, in 2003 from a Walmart in Rosenberg Texas. My grandma refused to buy me explicit music so I was stuck with the clean version of the album. Luckily the music still did what it was meant to do all the same. It gave me a release valve and an escape to be the angry little freak I was, if not for just in my headphones. I was 11.
The drink is an undeniably delicious albeit strange combo of whiskey, lime, sweet corn, and mayonnaise that reads somewhere between a dreamsicle and elotes.
FREAK ON A LEASH 🌽
2 oz triple pot still bourbon whiskey
1 oz grilled corn syrup
3/4 oz lime juice
1 barspoon mayo
mini elote 🌽🤏
grilled corn oleo
300g grilled corn
300g white sugar
150g water
sousvide @ 195F for 2 hours, then blended & strained.
Yields ~600ml
note: dehydrate leftover corn pulp (150F for 6 hours) & grind into sweet corn powder for garnish.
