gvloanguy | Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention on the Santa Monica Pier 1967 @gvloanguy | Uploaded April 2013 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention on the Santa Monica pier in 1967. I was there with a handful of others lucky enough to be there when Frank Zappa decided to throw a free concert right on the pier. They set up facing the sand down below, which is where I was, with my friends, and just started playing. Can't remember the songs, but I remember him pulling the arms off a doll and tossing them into the crowd (of 15 to 20 people). I should have kept one, but I didn't. But I kept the memory.
Ps. I remember now, there was an amusement park there. It was called Pacific Ocean Park or P.O.P. for short (pronounced pee oh pee -- not pop)
