How to do it with anything:
have the talisman, or whatever you wanna buff with, in your left hand. then run out of stamina, L2 ( or L1 _ L2 , will explain that after this ), and swap your right hand weapon from a buffable one, to a non buffable one just when you're about to regain some stamina and you will get the tumblebuff
the L2 only works with heysel pick, demon scar and talisman with unfaltering prayer
for all the others, like chimes, and pyro flames, and other talismans or staves, you need to press L1 + L2 , the rest is the same.
