This is what it looks like to fly through a pine forest on 1.3Ghz video where the signal is blocked by trees a very large percentage of the time. Yes, there is a lot of brief static, but as long as you have a display that shows static rather than blue or black screen, you can simply fly through it, by always keeping on the move.
The platform is a "Whaka Battle H Virus" quad (Google it).
FPV gear is a FOX800 1.3Ghz video Tx with a Cloverleaf antenna and Racewood 4ch VRX w/ SAW filter mod and Skew Planar Wheel omni antenna.
Rangelink 433Mhz UHF control system. The RC signal strength is displayed as voltage in the bottom left. 2.8V is pretty the maximum.
Using Hero3 Black's live output, and recording at 1080p with Protune mode turned on, which allows me to see into the dark shadows under the trees in bright sunny conditions.
