Want to last forever? Become a fossil. 7th graders from The Nueva School "Science Rap Academy" explain how to fossilize - in just five easy steps - in this parody of "Congratulations" by Post Malone. ↓ More info and resources below ↓
OK so there are probably more than five steps. But if we had to choose five, we'd choose:
1. Die in a protected area - like near a riverbed
2. Bacteria and other detritovores eat soft parts, leaving hard bones
3. Water needs to seep into your bones, allowing minerals to enter
4. As you wait for millions of years among the sediment, the organic matter in your bones will slowly be replaced by minerals
5. Through erosion, those rocks may be exposed and discovered
