Iron Age divination spoons could possibly have predicted the future! Could it also mean that there was an Iron Age priest class before the Late Iron Age? These enigmatic objects could have predicted which quarter of the lunar month or year was auspicious based on how a liquid poured out through one spoon onto the other.

These enigmatic, so-called divination spoons are usually found in pairs and have the same basic decoration, though there can be quite a bit of variety design-wise. Overall, they are shallow, oval shaped bowl-type things about the size of an adult hand and would fit in your palm quite comfortably. One end is also quite pointed. The generic design consists of dividing lines on one spoon, and a drilled hole on the other, with both possessing a shallow handle just large enough to grasp between your thumb and forefinger. Other examples have been found in Nesscliffe in Shropshire England, which were made of a copper alloy, and in a bog near Crosby Ravensworth in northern England, currently held in the British Museum.
