I started my Youtube channel because at the time there were tons of things on Youtube I wanted to watch, but didn't exist on the platform, or just sucked.
Instead of waiting around every day and searching the same thing up over and over again, I decided to try making it myself!
Over time I built up a small following of loyal subscribers and in my first year, we hit 200 subscribers... But I made a huge mistake: I took a 2 month break because I was having a really tough time getting through middle school, and Youtube felt like a distraction. When I came back I realized I had lost touch with that original idea of (making it for yourself) and I made the mistake of uploading my first Fortnite video.
Because of that video almost 50 of my subscribers left the channel for good, and never came back. This was a tough loss to get over, but I always wanted to make my channel into a gaming channel, so I persevered. I worked hard to try and make my videos more appealing but still not selling out. I started making these Fortnite kill montages and it was attracting a lot of people to click!
Even though a lot of people didn't subscribe, the fact that they didn't leave a dislike boosted my motivation to the max!
Eventually I made a face reveal so I could play the Mortal Kombat 11 Beta (which you guys apparently liked) This video helped me to realize some of the creative ways I could shape this channel, without breaking my following, and now we're almost to 400 subs!!! Last time I checked, we're at 399!
