The drive through the Fort Pitt Tunnel under Mount Washington towards downtown Pittsburgh is such a cool introduction to the city's skyline. I am hard-pressed to think of a more scenic and sudden visual surprise after weaving through winding highway roads through the mountains of Pennsylvania and then greeted instantly by a city. Pittsburgh is not a very big city, but there are so many great vantage points to view it, and this is one of them. After heading through the tunnel, I spun around back and up Mount Washington to the Grandview Overlook to get a higher view of the city and the Three Rivers. If you are spending time in Pittsburgh and not driving through like I was, you can also take the Duquesne Incline up or down to the top of Mount Washington as well, which I have done in the past. The only way these views could be better would be if I had a clearer skies instead of the muted sunrise, but that's random chance for you.
