Forspoken is the first game to support DirectStorage on PC. DirectStorage has been covered and tested on this channel on numerous occasions through tech demos, but today will be the first time testing it in an actual game. The game is installed on the fastest SSD currently available - the Phison E26 Gen5 engineering sample. This SSD was sent to me by Phison, and I benchmarked it in a previous video. While very fast, it uses 1600 MT/s 232L NAND from Micron. This NAND supports up to 2400 MT/s, so faster Gen5 SSD are on the way this year, which will be even faster.
The game is running in 4K with ultra settings.
For those wondering about Gen5 SSD thermals, I am using the reference design heatsink with active cooling, and the SSD's max temperature during a 1 hour gaming session in Forspoken was 57 degrees.
