Some Arizona desert backroads still lead to forgotten places. In this adventure, we head beyond Castle Dome Mine Museum to explore the remote remains of the Big Eye Mine, an old mining site hidden in the desert landscape.
Out there we discover weathered ruins, crumbling structures, a tunnel cut into the hillside, and even a cabin you can still stay in. Along the route, we also stop to explore another tunnel and take in the rugged scenery of this quiet corner of Arizona.
If you enjoy Arizona history, abandoned mines, ghost towns, desert travel, scenic drives, off-road routes, and hidden places most people pass by, this trip is for you.
